Do you think the baby boomers had it easy. Not all of baby boomers could afford college as there weren’t the loan programs then as there are now. We also had to deal with the draft which put a lot of young men behind their classmates who were fortunate not to have had to serve. We had to deal with Craters down turn, with interest rates to buy a home at 20%. We also had high gas prices.
My husband and I did not buy our first home until we were in our forties we spent our first twenty years working, saving and making sure we did not have any debt.
The teaparty protests were to try and save you money and debt by not bailing our big companies when the only reason they were in trouble was their own greed.
We also know what paying tax’s are all about. When we were raising 6 kids there wasn’t the child tax credit. I can remember when we first started out our combined income was about 20,000.00 a year and on April 15 we always had to pay in a little more. At that time the 100.00 or so extra we had to pay in could have paid for the electric bill or a little extra food.
So don’t whine about having to wait to buy a house or paying off your student loan debt. At least you weren’t drafted and came home in a box.
As for your student loan debt well there are ways to start out without that debt. My husband and I saved a little money for each of our children. Two of my kids went into the military and that paid for their college. Two of my kids worked summers and during college to make up for what their college fund and scholarships did not pay. One kid would work for a year and college for a year and they had no debt when they graduated. The other child had very little loan debt. Two of my kids went to work right out of high school and with in a few years were making 6 figures.
Every generation have their crosses to bare. You can either make the best of the hand you are dealt or you can whine and blame someone else. One will get you ahead and one wont. And I have never blamed my parent or grandparents for the ways things were for me. I made my own choses and I had to live with the choices I made.
Life is good enjoy each and every day because before you know it you will be on the down hill side of it.

Of course. You don’t have to be an adult capable of thinking independently to vote. In fact, the politicians don’t like those types. Better to only have people voting who will believe whatever they tell them without question. Like kids.

If you claim the sole purpose of the tea party was to avoid wasting money on bailouts, then you got it wrong. The government made money on TARP.

You really believe that big corp should get bailed and when the little guy does not. You complain that the top 10% don’t pay their fair share than you reward them for bad behavior. If you think the government made money on the bail outs than there really isn’t must to talk about. I don’t believe in fairy tales no matter who tells them to me. We have bailed out GM more than once and you, probably not me I’ll probably be gone on to greener pastures by then will be bailing them out again in 20 years or so.

There’s a difference between just handing money to corporations via tax cuts and loaning them money to keep the global economy from collapsing.

TARP was very successful in its aims. The ■■■■ up came when mealy mouthed conservatives decided regulations killed jobs and refused to put any sort of restraint on the practices that led to the housing bubble in the first place.

Keep believing in fairy tales. Some day you will see that it wasn’t just the right it was both sides lining their pockets and they are still doing it today. Its just a matter of time and we will be right back to bailing them all out again. You think regulations bother them, no those are just for the little guy.
And if I remember right Bush wanted to put restraint on the housing bubble but the left said no everything is just fine. Tarp worked out just fine for them to line their pockets on our backs.
You want to know how the rich keep getting richer and the middle class in disappearing this is part of it. To big fail.

I never said all Boomers had it easy. But there were certain advantages that that the Boomers had that they are working to deny the younger generation from having.

As far as the tea party thing. That is rewriting history. It wasn’t started because of corporate bailouts. It was started because of bailing out people who took bad loans. The people who made bad loans got off Scott free.

As I have said before. I am at the tail end if gen X. I am sandwiched between two lathe generations. My generation has been pretty useless in fighting for our interests. Basically resigned that social security won’t be here for our retirement because there was never enough of us to ensure politically that it gets protected.

I have lived my entire life life like that and have planned accordingly.

I acknowledge though that I was not screwed like the millenials were. I had it much better than them.

I can at least admit it.

Most millennials are screwed when it comes to buying a house with today’s prices. I am at the upper end of the millennial age and was able to buy a modest home in Seattle seven years ago.

The people I work with the younger millennials and even younger gen-z generation doesn’t have a chance with the price of housing going up close to 20% a year in the last five years. I only got lucky because of timing, I wouldn’t be able to afford it now if I was just starting out.

Boomer here. I think you have lost your way in What the Tea Party Protests were about. They had nothing to do with saving the Public from Corporate America. Hell if anything they were the pawn of Corporate America. They were established so Old Guard Radio Republicans could feel relevant in a Democratic Administration. They were summarily looked at as a joke by most Americans. They were Glen Beckians.
