The fees banks and investment houses charge would be considered in teh economy because it’s changing hands, and creating economic growth. The money parked in the account or in stocks or an investment is not ‘in the economy’.

But that’s not ‘economic activity’.
When you withdraw it from your savings and buy yourself a car, that’s economic activity.
The mega wealthy have so much money, they withdraw a little and buy an island or two - and that’s economic activity and that is good for a number of people and the country in which the activty takes place- but they have 10,000x of that still in the bank doing nothing but replenishing their extreme wealth.
That’s what we were discussing.
That’s such a hard issue for me. Because I strongly support jus soli citizenship. But I also hate the idea of illegals climbing the border just to have a kid that will be an American citizen by default. No easy way to rectify that one for me.
