Those are the NYPD statistics.
The numbers that I stated was from the peak of stop and frisk.
During the ramping up of the policy there were around 6 million stop and frisk stops made between 2004 - 2013.
They had a rate of about 11-12% of those finding something to give a summons about… usually it was pot.
They didn’t find that many guns comparative to the amount of searches conducted.
It was a failure of a program that didn’t reduce crime but went a very long way at in making people really hate the police.
Why should that failed policy be national?
