IMHO it was an attempted insurrection. I suspect if the mob had got their hands on a politician it would have been a lot more.
I believe the majority of people who went, went to protest or just experience the day with no ill intent. Then mob mentality kicked in, created by a small number of those who did have bad intent and a lot of people got swept up. Doesnt excuse any behavior but explains it.
I do not believe that government forces created it or the deep state had operatives creating the huuhah to negatively impact Trump.

Then there were the Proud Boys who were not just rioting. There was a plan…and fortunately, it failed.

No what the proud boys did had no bearing on the riot itself. You would need to connect the riot to their plans. Meaning directing or inciting the mob. They didn’t. They had a plan and a conspiracy but it had nothing to do with the riot itself and had they got it alone they would have been immediately repelled.
Mob means not an insurrection. Once mob mentality kicked in it’s just a riot. And most of it was silly and a lot of it was caused by the Capitol police who took selfies and removed themselves from restricted areas because of either poor training or because they agreed with what was happening. Or both.
It’s being reported on the radio that some of these “students” are threatening the Jewish students very lives.
They need to nip this in the bud as Barney Fife used to say.
Arrests with some substantial jail time behind it.
If they were threatening African Americans they would get hit with hate crime charges.
This is no different.

It was a plan that fell into place by setting it up by riling up the crowd, by the several speakers…
it was no guaranteed to work…but it did. Remember, Trump really wanted to go there as well, but the SS did not allow him.
If it was not planned in any way, and the riot did not occur…the Proud Boys would have not entered…
The biggest clue that it was at least partially planned…was Trump refusing to tell those folks stand down for hours…

They didn’t have to…Trump and the other speakers got them riled up. Trump said he was going to join them. It was not guaranteed to work…but it did.
