What? He had to be browbeaten into releasing a half assed statement and to lower the flag again, and it was reported that he personally nixed the originally planned White House statement.

Were you doing the brow beating?
We all know he and McCain were rivals, so I don’t accept the drama over how the President chooses to pay his respect to Senator McCain. If Trump had overdone his reaction, he would have been a phony…which he certainly is not.
Delighted that W and Obama will perform the public memorial service. I am sure they will do an outstanding job with this. President Trump is quite busy and no doubt appreciates the support of his Presidential brethren…
Were you not following the story? The American Legion and other veterans groups were requesting the President drop his pettiness.
Are veterans’ groups wrong to criticize Donald’s actions and words (or lack thereof) in the wake of McCain’s death?

It was in the news a couple days ago.
You know…kind of what caused the backlash in the first place?
So you have been under a rock…

When you do the right thing because you were badgered into doing it, does it really count as having done the right thing?
I’m not sure how anyone, even a trump supporter, could draw the conclusion that he did the right thing at any point this weekend.
He posted a one sentence instagram post with a giant picture of himself on it.
He nixed a white house statement on mccains death
He didn’t push to keep the flag at half staff after the weekend
He only released a statement and lowered the flag again after bipartisan blowback

Here’s what I think might have happened.
These two were only following Trump-supporting media reporting on the issue, and didn’t know he wasn’t going to release a statement and only did so because he was badgered into it…and that badgering includes veterans’ groups who were strong supporters of his.

I just saw a video of CNN questioning John Sonunu about it. Evidently it came from the Washington Post and he felt as confident about it’s crediblity as I am and told the host just that. She was as flabergasted by the response as you are. I guess you’re more of a Washington Post/CNN kind of believer than I am and…I’m fine with that.

Ah so it’s that you don’t believe what was reported.
Got it…you prefer alternative facts.

Is that what Governor Sununu believes according to you? Ok…I’m fine with that too. I’m in good company.

Poor McCain. Despised and called a racist by the left when he was alive, weaponized by the left after his demise.
He didn’t read it. It’s longer than a tweet.

Those veteran groups should have kept their mouths shut! How dare they question the flaccid actions of Trump…
That’s a nice fiction tale, but McCain was and is generally one of the more respected GOP politicians by the left. His constant desire to bomb away the world’s problems and his unleashing of Sarah Palin on an unsuspecting populace are rightly criticized, but he was and is respected as at least being capable of independent thought.

Yeah. Right.
“On Sunday’s Face the Nation , Obama supporter retired Gen. Wesley Clark, remarkably, went there: “I don’t think riding in a fighter plane and getting shot down is a qualification to be president.” So did liberal blogger John Aravosis, writing that “getting shot down, tortured, and then doing propaganda for the enemy is not command experience.” On Monday, former Obama adviser Rand Beers argued that McCain’s isolation as a POW limited his insight on national security issues.”
When the McCain campaign questions Obama’s background, they’re asking their supporters if a black man should be president
how long did it take you to find a handful of examples? Two of which aren’t questioning his heroism, rather his command experience, and one of those two people was the Supreme Allied Commander of NATO, also known as a relevant authority on the issue. He wasn’t a draft dodging coward. Regardless, how is this relevant to what I posted? As of June, John McCain had a 62% favorable rating among Arizona democrats.

Veterans groups and Republican Senators are, “the left” now?
The American Legion has long been known for their radical leftist ideology.
