Cancelling business licenses with a civil suit is due process. Civil suits by government entities is due process
Irreparable harm is a standard for staying a judgment or an order of the court. It’s meaningful that they found enough to at least stay it while the appeal and the trial are pending.
Cancelling someone’s business license doesn’t require a “conviction”, Crooked Donald is in civil court, he’s getting his licenses cancelled that way, because he’s proven himself to be a fraudulent actor in his business dealings.
If you run your business based on fraud, the state has the right to come after you to prevent citizens from being defrauded. Crooked Donald knows this, he’s been caught and sanctioned time and time again. But the fraud is so much more profitable than running business in the correct way that he will never stop.
If you have a business license in any capacity, you know that running it as a fraud exposes you to action from the government. Thankfully most business owners choose the ethical, non fraudulent business model.
Did you watch any of the depositions in the fraud case? ALL the financial principals, Weisselberg and the trump bros, acting all cagey and ignorant about Gaap accounting (generally accepted accounting principles)?
Imagine being a business leader and pretending you’re not really all that familiar with Gaap? Laughable.
They know what it is. They have to act like they’re unfamiliar with it, because it’s anathema to how they run their companies.
No. It’s not some esoteric vague elite upper education ivory tower nonsense. It’s gritty basic ethical accounting.
