My rheumatologist has recently started me on a new therapy - Humira - that seems to show some promise. I just took my 2nd dose on Friday - it’s extremely expensive (around $7,000 a month retail), but after jumping through several hoops in step therapy, my insurance finally approved me for it. All I have to pay is my standard copay.
As I said, I just took my 2nd dose (one injection every 2 weeks), and I am starting to see signs of improvement. I am cautiously optimistic. The real test will come when I have my next PET scan, which my cardiologist wants to schedule for May or June. That should reveal whether the inflammation in the heart and lungs has improved and the level of improvement. But, as I said - I am cautiously optimistic after starting to see some improvements in my daily life after this last dose.
