That party also controlled part of the Congress from 2010 - 2016, all of Congress from 2014 - 2016 and all of government 2017 - 2018, and could have raised taxes to deal with the deficit, but instead complained about spending for six years and then reduced taxes in 2017 without cutting spending and made the deficit worse.
Now they’re back to complaining about spending.
