Interestingly, today’s Auto Train’s were dispatched, but today’s Silver Stars were cancelled in both directions. Looks like everything except the Acela and the Northeast Regional between Boston and Washington, DC will shut down tomorrow.

The administration is just the intermediary: this is an age old clash between labor and management.

Nobody panic yet. Biden could order the strikers back to work.

Kind of stupid of Sanders to block a Republican Joint Resolution that would bind both sides to the PEB settlement and stop the strike.

A strike does NOT help Democrats, particularly if Republicans can point a finger at particular Democrats (i.e. Sanders) as to fault.

would he do that? Go up against the union?

But the odd thing in the article was that members of the board called for an end to talks in July, earlier than was necessary. If they had not done that this would have delayed any strike until after the election.

Here’s more:

It appears three unions of the 12 are still at the bargaining table.

24% raise?

$5,000 bonus?

Higher healthcare costs?

Biden absolutely must leave at the end of his term, if not before

Yes but the administration shut down the mediation 2 months early.

Yes he can order them to do it. That is why Dems might panic. The president not supporting the unions and order them to work.

“That this might occur right before the midterm elections is entirely self-inflicted by the Biden administration, where two of President Biden’s National Mediation Board [NMB] members took the bizarre step in June of terminating board-guided mediation two months early and starting the 90-day countdown to a possible rail strike,” Scribner told FOX Business, calling the move “unprecedented.”

Even if he did, which I don’t think is likely, the Union may not follow his order. You think he would send in the troops?

President Harris?

Where did you hear this?

Probably not right away.

Probably not right away.

Why? What about this makes you feel that way?

Fox and friends.

Don’t remember the reporter.

union buster brandon?

lol

couple this with the shortages of diesel and derivitives and its going to be one hard inflationary winter. with inflation climbing while the price of oil is coming down, what’s it gonna do when it spikes again and no spr to fill a real supply gap?

Can you imagine how high the inflation was on other goods with the fuel prices dropping as it did to make it inflation go up overall?

wild. i thought the same thing when i saw it. now we’re looking at rising oil prices (especially diesel and derivitives) over the winter.

Interestingly, this shutdown should help Amtrak. Their only profitable routes are along the northeast corridor. In fact, they should just permanently shutdown everything except between Boston and Washington, D.C.
