Back to the topic at hand. I am not particularly proud of this country in general.

There are times, but not in general.

And looking back on it, I don’t think I ever should have been.

Children from disadvantaged urban neighborhoods do not generally do well in school and it is not the fault of schools. It is a result of being raised in broken families that do not support their children in learning. Denial of credit (redlining) is connected to intergenerational poverty by it’s very nature of keeping people stuck in their crappy neighborhoods and restricting their ability to improve their lot in life. It is literally a vicious cycle. It is poverty that has so much to do with education and redlining helped create the urban situation we find ourselves with today.

I could’ve have just said bad parenting is the root of all our ills and it might have been a lot easier, and just as accurate lol. It’s a good discussion but I have chores.

I disagree with every word of your post. I’ll be here when you get back.

I think wanting to and getting into a good college is a measure of success. Having the grades is different than having the money. My son went to a college way out of my pay grade. But because of his success in school, he got enough money that it paid for him to basically have a tuition bill of any state school. Otherwise he would not have been able to go.

And I agree college may not be for everyone…and that is a massive issue with our education system. If you aren’t college bound college prep, or are deemed a failure.

I understand.

Here’s the thing; a college degree is not about your first job. It’s not about your first 5 jobs. It’s about your last 5.

It’s about not hitting the ceiling too soon.

And most people never get to a true ceiling. They hit a false ceiling created by errand boys. My theory is it has to do with liability.

There are of course exceptions.

That " deeming" is done by the high school administration, who see college enrollment as a mark of their success and the success of the school system itself.

Which is of course a fallacy.

And you, apparently.

I added to it. I’m trying to cut down my post count.

Dead on accurate.

The best way to counter the, as you point out, hateful and belittling chest thumping of these fake-patriots is to disparage them. That’s an effective way to get through, expose the hate.

Why do you have a mass murderer who was hunted down like a dog and shot in a ditch ■■■■■■■■ himself and begging as your avatar?

Are you smarter than me? Better?

Congratulations on your daughter’s degree!! That takes a solid five or six years of commitment, is very difficult, and her reward is a fantastic job. I work in a college with dual enrollment high school students. Prepping for teaching degrees has surged.
Sorry for OT.

Not off topic at all. I agree. Congratulations. Good teachers are a blessing from the Good Lord.

You won’t get much else.

Trump-era conservatism exposed.

While I agree with your post, there is one thing I want to point out- the libertarian left, and Anarcho-Communists. They say they are different than their Authoritarian cousins, but I think of them more like the proletariat, in the first step of falling to Communism.

A country can’t have self-reliant Communism because Communism is not voluntary in the first place, in grand scheme of things.

Mayor de Blasio quoted Che the other day while in Florida. I think Mayor de Blasio would make a fantastic President so if Che is good enough for him Che is fine with me. One of my professors said that Che was a misunderstood freedom fighter against oppressors so there is that. Why do you think artists wear Che t shirts? Because he is a mass murderer? He would to have killed a lot of artist if he was a mass murderer so it doesn’t make sense that artists would wear a Che t shirt if that were true.

I have no idea if I’m smarter than you because I don’t know who you are. Looks like you’re from San Francisco though so chances are you’re pretty smart.

There is the problem right there.

That’s all you had to say.

By the way, Checito did kill a lot of artists. And all other kinds of people.

I have no idea if I’m smarter than you because I don’t know who you are. Looks like you’re from San Francisco though so chances are you’re pretty smart.

So people from San Francisco are smart? How does that work?
Are you better than me? What do your emotions tell you?

@Konssurvative1

@FloridaYankee

On the education discussion? I rest my case.

Seems like you had a definite idea a short while ago. What happened?

You don’t know who I am but you called me an idiot loser?

See you’ve wasted your education in my opinion. Did you just accept your professor at his/her word…or did you think for yourself and ask…is that the truth? If you don’t question, you are not thinking. You are accepting.
