I disagree, schools are teaching students what is appropriate and accurate information, and they are also teaching them how to work toward determining what are the most accurate sources. Have been since I was in high school and they still do today.

That’s odd, it doesn’t look like the question asks if you are or are not proud of the President.

Unfortunately this is not borne out either by study or by my own anecdotal interactions with hundreds of high school and college age students.

Here is one such study highlighting a critical thinking deficit amongst today’s young people. There are more- I can start a discussion on them as well if you wish- education has become a recent interest of mine.

There actually is quite a bit of evidence that how we’ve tried to teach students in the past couple of decades (the “earlier is better” methods quoted in the link I shared, for example) is contributing to the problem.

Kids know and have memorized a lot of stuff.

There is scant evidence they are by and large critical thinkers.

Yeah, and we know how everyone interprets survey questions exactly the same way as the pollster intended. Not to mention all the survey takers interpret questions the same way.

Nicely done!

For better or worse. The President at the time represents America.

Hard to be proud of America with Trump as president. Just is.

my friend from the UK cannot believe the American people voted for this shyster (his words)

what can you say but yikes.

Pride is America will go up once Trump leaves office.

Allan

That’s bull. Slavery was wrong, segregation was wrong, Japanese Americans interned in concentration camps during WWII was wrong, starting and politicizing the Vietnam War was wrong, all were under DEMOCRAT Presidents BTW but there were other mistakes under R Presidents such as school busing and the treatment of Native Americans.

There isn’t a country in the entire world that does not have skeletons in their closet but the constant negative drumbeat from the arrogant anti-American crowd is just beyond the pale and many Americans are just pushing back on the ridiculousness of it all.

America one of the youngest countries in the world and is the greatest country in the entire world, don’t like it, move! No one is keeping you here if you’re an American citizen you are free to go wherever you want.

The detailed questions refer to several “pride drivers”, one of which is politics…where the “pride scores” are quite low.

You say it’s bull but your response illustrates my point perfectly. Thank you.

You have an elephant memory about wars, what about the Iraq war. Most Americans feel it was a mistake and it was started by a elephant. or do only democratic President mistakes count.

Allan

What metrics are you using to define “greatest country in the world”?

And if one disagrees that we are “the greatest country in the world”, in what way does that mean one is not “proud” of America?

Good point. What is Congress’ approval rating?

I found it.

20% - less than half Trump’s. Looks like Trump is holding the curve.

Oh you mean the war Democrats voted against before they insisted on a 2nd vote to vote in favor of it! Dems always hold up their political fickle finger to the wind to make their decisions proving they can’t be trusted with the security of the Country.

The majority of Democratic congress people voted AGAINST the war.

There is just no getting around that fact.

Allan

Um…no- not sure what you’re talking about.

Only 43% of Democrats voted in favor of the joint resolution in 2002.

There was no “second vote”.

I think climate change is precisely what wrong with our entire system. Classic example of force feeding radical beliefs onto society so a few can rule. And if anyone dare to challenge or question, are ridiculed and silence.

And thus why out educational system is the way it is today.

It’s what they think is appropriate and accurate information…they are no longer asking them to question it.

What limited time I had is school I was told to question everything, the source, the method etc.

What changed?

If they’re not proud of America under recent polling, whose fault is that?

Because they aren’t question the information that being fed to em. Hell I question myself if I’m going down a certain path if it’s the right path…if that makes any sense.

It does not. And if that were the case you’d think that Democrat numbers would have jumped substantially during the OBAMA admin. They did not.
