Let me address the proverbial elephant in the room with respect to what happened at the Capitol building. Why didn’t Trump as soon as he was aware of what was happening at the Capitol building on the 6th of January contact Fox News and say he wanted to appear on Fox News immediately to call on live tv those who were at the Capitol building to leave the building? Not a tweet, not a pre-recorded message but a live message on tv?
He was contentedly watching the chaos unfold on TV.
Oh, and tweeting occasionally.
How come you were not working that day or any other demo day in DC? You said you go to all of them. I got a job, responsibilities, and work ethics that would keep me away from crazy ■■■■■

I don’t think those 73% of Republicans believe in a conspiracy. It’s far simpler than that.
Those 73% of Republicans believe that their party and their leaders are so just and even infallible, that when something negative happens, it can never be the fault of their party and leaders. They then project or displace accountability onto the opposition party and their leaders. This is the end result of hyper-partisanship and gaslighting (yes, that term is used way too much…myself included).
It’s not unique to Republicans. However, since the Republicans have most recently been in the spotlight with Trump and a lost election, it is much more visible and I do believe it has been taken to the next level. Claims of “stolen” elections, January 6th and various COVID issues are examples.

I live on the opposite of Australia to Sydney. I most assuredly have never gone elephant hunting in Asia or any other part of the world either and yes I am very fortunate to live in Australia.

That’s exactly what almost everyone out of about 100 I interviewed at the Jan 6th event felt. They were acting patrioticly and rationally. Around half confidentiality stated they were willing to bet their lives that an evil collective had undermined the US political system with outright fraud and corruption. And that as trump and co stated many times they had indisputable evidence. (variances in the beliefs but the basic premise was always nearly identical)
If you know the American democractic system was in the process of being overthrown by an evil criminal org and you don’t do what exactly what the Patriots in Jan 6th did you are a ■■■■■■■ coward. Imagine if when Hitler invaded and installed a puppet gov the response would be to whine on an obscure internet forum and make a hashtag

The Jan 6th patriots were manipulated by those who KNEW they lying to save face. This is what the Jan 6th investigation needs to focus on. If the leaders know the truth and the motivation behind it.
They did one of the most disgusting and potentially damaging acts in US history by poisoning the well so that if in the future something like this does happen in America. They yelled fire and caused a stampede and worst of all desensitized Americans to the next fire alarm.

If they were trying to convince people that our political system was being undermined by fraud at the highest levels that they knew was false they need to rot.
Imagine if someone with a large following starts to say that you are raping babies in your basement and their children are next. Something they know is false. If you are killed by a mob who’s fault is it.
