I’m pretty sure that most sports places have taken down all the statues of OJ Simpson. Our country can’t take down the statues of adults who FOUGHT to continue to buy little girls.

Yes, that is what the people he was hiding among were doing, because that is what was needed to hide his identity… but he also clearly states he was a child bystander who did not participate . This is called English, the context matters; “ You ” is used as a collective pronoun when directed at a group of people.

Why are you having difficulty understanding this?

It seems very, very, very important to him that his version is true. Unambiguous statements about how he did not participate are easy to ignore when he is able to find an ambiguous statements that could be interpreted to mean something else.

My point of view on this is that not all the statues pertaining to the war are statues which glorify the era of the slave-owning south.

I personally would not want 1st and Main Street in my town permanently adorned with a thirty foot statue of some racist riding upon on his valiant steed. It is an ugly part of our history. I’d have it removed and put in a museum, or similar location.

I would not want not want a mob of screaming antifa bigots tearing down every statue or monument that remotely pertains to the Civil War.
