A little off topic here as I haven’t served, but it seems to me for some reason women are better at spotting transgender women than men.
An old friend of mine was something of a streetwise guy who grew up a short distance from Logan International Airport. Yet one day he came very close to making a pass at a stunning woman.
A woman who grew up with them pulled him aside and said, “Pst, Dave, you’re going gaga over someone who isn’t a woman. That’s Carmine.”
. If this individual was in transition, or taking off the wig and makeup at the end of the day, I don’t know. But he sure had an otherwise sharp guy fooled.
