The article insinuates that this is bad policy.
We don’t know if it’s bad policy until given a chance to succeed or fail on its own merits.
Other cities have defunded police departments with varying degrees of success.
Perhaps we should wait until the results are in…

If you went into the hood and randomly polled people, I would bet my house that 90 percent would say they are democrats. But do it quickly. Before you get mugged, robbed or shot.
Hahaha
Missouri is a sweaty armpit in general
Outsiders do usually go after the weather in order to say something negative about the state as a whole.
“More police doesn’t prevent crime,” the 49-year-old, Harvard-educated mayor told the Telegraph last week. “Research done in the police department shows that 50 percent of calls can be answered by someone other than police. So, why not deploy someone other than police, and free up police to do the work that they were trained to do in our academy.”
She actually correct…police don’t prevent crime. So having more police wouldn’t necessarily lower the crime rate.

Nah the weather is just a bonus.
But at least in other areas they like having someone show up when they dial 911.
It’s all you got, really, since your home shares filthy similarities with KC/STL and not the rest of the state.
I already read the article. I know what’s in it.
Is it a good idea to free the criminals then make a 911 call useless?
Here’s a good bonus.
In Minneapolis a battered woman dialed 911. The dispatcher told police she was beaten and bleeding. The police told her to leave her house and they would meet her several blocks away. They didn’t want to risk their lives and careers by going into that neighborhood and having a confrontation with the cop haters.

What needs to be done is people surrounding St. Louis needs to strengthen laws their protect themselves and their property by lessening restrictions on when to use deadly force.
Get caught car jacking and owner shoots your sorry ass…you get a star. Get 5 stars and you get a free cruise to Alaska this summer.
STL needs to be given to Illinois. It’s already halfway in.

What about people who live there and don’t agree with defunding the police and such but are outvoted, do you feel sorry for them ?
Obvious answer here, of course is “Move to MAGA country” but it isn’t easy to pick up and leave for everyone - there are job/family commitments and many other factors.

Stray needles on the ground is a pretty serious issue where I live
They should arm themselves and take their chances with a jury.
I do. What your party has done to these people is a sin against God and man. I can’t imagine what it must be like for some 70 year old grandmother to hear her door being kicked in knowing when she calls 911, nobody will show up.
Yes. Contrary to how your woke friends portray me, I’m not a monster. The monsters are the people who did this to her.
