The whole thing is problematic. They set up a galley to hang Pence from, Pence is hunkered down somewhere and the President spends his and his team’s time calling Senators and Reps trying to convince them to support sending the electoral votes back to the states.

Never once do they call Pence, who is in imminent danger.

Pence wound up being the one to call in the national guard, by the way. The President didn’t even when he knew Congress was under attack.

To me, it seems the President didn’t view this as a terrorist attack but an opportunity to buy time.
