Firefighters and city officials warned residents Monday evening that the massive blaze engulfing Notre Dame Cathedral in Paris, France may not be “stopped,” saying the 850-year-old House of Worship could ultimately be “destroyed.”

“French fire chiefs have warned the devastating inferno which ravaged the world-famous Notre Dame cathedral this evening evening ‘cannot be stopped,’” writes the Daily Mail.

“An official in the French interior ministry said saving the building ‘is not certain’ after the spire and part of the roof collapsed earlier this evening – adding that it may not be possible to stop the blaze consuming yet more of the structure,” adds the author.

President Trump weighed-in on the massive fire Monday afternoon, saying “It might be greater than almost any museum in the world and it’s burning very badly, looks like it’s burning to the ground.”
