O'Rourke tops poll

Agree to disagree. Hillary is center, Bernie is left, Pedro Sanchez(Spain PM) far left.

Agreed against an unpopular senator. Things like that happens like watching Ortez beat a career politician in the Bronx. The mistake I think for the left(and I could be wrong) is trying to think the way Texas voted with an unpopular senator will translate to more red states following suit.

It could be argued Elizabeth Warren would have had the same results judging Cruz’s unpopularity and a moderate democrat might have beat Cruz. These are all hypotheticals of course, but in the same way some on the left is using Texas race against Cruz.

I think this Is wishful thinking or certain media trying to make Beto their candidate. It is kind of hard to buy that in one week time and no news on him he can go from last to first place in the polls that Biden and Bernie has been consistently leading for a year.

I’m concerned with American politics. In America, Hillary is left, Bernie is far left. IMO.

How do you see Hillary as a centrist? She’s always firmly been. Democrat, and Democrats have always been left. Bernie has always been more left than a standard Democrat.

Oh, I don’t think anyone believes Beto would flip a red state like Idaho or something. I just think he would bring a good level of enthusiasm to the dems, which is what we need.

Both Bill and Hillary are/were centrists. They were a little left socially, but economically, they were/are center/right. Look at the legislation Bill signed.
The Telco Act, which has allowed the monopolization of the media companies.
The Gramm -Leach - Bliley act. That had a lot to do with the crash of the housing market.

Hillary moved to the left during the primaries…only because Bernie forced her to.
As that is, what the majority of Americans want.

Don’t get me wrong, they are both better than any modern Republican…but they are/were certainly not left.

FDR, Truman, Kennedy and Johnson were more left than the Clintons.

Carter was also a moderate.

Medicare for all
Affordable/free college or vocational schools available.
Higher taxes on the wealthy and Corps.
Huge infrastructure spending.
Reasonable, effective regulations.

All “Left” ideas. But not “far/radical left”. Unless one is a hard core rightie…then those things are considered pure socialism or communism.

Naming things Bill did doesn’t make Hillary a centrist.

Here’s what 538 has to say about it:

They contend she’s very clearly mostly very liberal, not centrist based on her time in the senate, her public stances, and other factors.
