Most likely. But it’s not a forgone conclusion.
I do expect us to off ourselves or at least destroy civilization at some point in the not too distant future.

It has happened before. NATO members under the domination of the US had control over the vast majority of Africa when the alliance formed in 1949.
At the pace things change now (over the last 100 years or so) 1000 years is an enormous period of time. Man is fully capable of destroying himself and most other living things on the planet now. It’s only going to get worse.
