I don’t get why people think this couid never have happen. College guys - especially elite Ivy Leaguers on power trips - can be real pigs. I knew more of my fair share of them. Some eventually grow up but others remain pigs. Successful pigs, but pigs just the same.

No doubt. We’ve all seen our share of them. I’ve known my fair share of them as well.

I’ve also seen my fair share of “I’m going to college to get my Mrs. Doctor Degree”. “I’m going to ride the coat tails to being someone.”

Yeah, it’s real confusing if you don’t understand rape allegations and power dynamics.

There has only been one rape alligation which was Ford which has been known for a while and I’m reserving judgement until she testifies which I’m convinced she won’t.

The two today are not rape alligations.

I know what you mean but here is my issue with that. If we are going to allow noms to be pulled with just alligations without them having to testify under oath why can’t that strrategy be used against anybody that you want to oppose? Get a few people to claim that person did something knowing they will face no legal jeopardy by having to actually testify under oath?

Even if Ford is 100% telling the truth pulling a nominee from alligations without them making any statement under oath sets a bad precedent for the future and this whole thing has been about making sure Ford never testifys under oath. I want to know why.

If no other incidents ever surfaced, then I would tend to believe the accuser might have been mistaken. From what I’ve seen in almost every credible case of this kind in the past, the original accusation is typically just the tip of the iceberg. I believe we are now going to see the opening of the floodgates. Trump needs to distance himself from Kavanaugh now and move onto another candidate.

My preference would be to pull it now. That would allow Trump to name someone new and still get them confirmed prior to the mid-terms.

This is gonna pretty tricky for Republicans now. One accusation is rough but multiple allegations of sexual assault will make republicans look awful if they try to ram through a vote to confirm him- and at this point I wonder if Collins or Murkowski would buckle and vote against him.

On the other hand- if they let this drag out and then pull him a couple weeks from now- that will be awfully close to the election and it’s quite possible they won’t get someone up for a vote before the election.

And in the remote chance that the Senate is lost to the Democrats they might lose the Supreme Court seat entirely if Schumer decides to drag it out like MCConell did.

Even police investiating a mugging would have an issue with an ID that came after the perp was on TV for several days.

I believe you might be missing the point. Kavanaugh is damaged goods. Trump can’t allow this circus to continue through the mid-terms. He needs to cut his losses and move on.

NONE of the three have testified under penalty of purgury. Until at least one of them does he should not be withdrawn. If you want to claim something be willing to say it under oath.

Politically I know at this point it would be the best move.

I just worry about the precedent of having people make claims without having to get under oath as being enough to derail a nominee. That could have serious issues in the future.

What I don’t understand is why men like Kavenaugh, if these allegations are true, would think they could get away with it all the way to the Supreme Court? You would think he would know they would come out, especially in light of the #MeToo movement. Why subject yourself to what’s coming down the pike?

I see no way Kavanaugh is confirmed. If I were sitting in the senate as a GOP senator, I would not vote to confirm. I would make that very clear up front so that Trump can withdraw the candidate.

There’s no doubt that one more allegation would tip the scales to pull Kavenaugh. He is on extremely thin ice. Trump is likely to continue to fully endorse him- just as he did with Moore. But that would continue to alienate women and especially senators like Murkowski and Collins. They are going have to thread the needle to confirm him now.
