There is clearly something she is going to say at the committee she hasn’t said before. There is no way to get her to tell that before she wants to regardless of investigation.

If there was an investigation and she witheld information then I would be on your side of credulity if she brought it up in front of congress for shock effect.

Should there really be a "side" on this matter?

Think about it… A person with a claim that cannot be substantiated, almost 40 years later can derail previous numerous vettings?

By side I mean if there was an investigation and she withheld information for maximum effect I would join you in condemnation of her.

I don’t know if it scrubbed or not. I guess I can take the word of someone who said it was scrubbed.

There is certainly stuff in there that is embarrassing for the way high schoolers should act.

As far as drinking… in 1982 being a Senior in High School one would have been legal to drink, so even though it may seem surprising… it was certainly happening a lot more in the open than it is now or even when I was in high school in the late 80’s early 90’s

So I ask again… if you think that she is making it up… why is the yearbook important?

I will answer the same. as I did before…Why are BK’s legal opinions important if he is to be a SC Justice?

His legal opinions are important.

If the allegations are true and he has lied about it instead of fessing up and making good… because believe it or not I don’t think that he is the same person that he was at 17 and would understand a drunken assault in the 80’s because… well… it was the 80’s and he was 17.

So if he did do it… fessed up to it and worked to make amends he would be much more of a moral man than if he did it and denied it ever happening because he felt that it was the quickest path to a Supreme Court seat.

But we will never really know the story… so he is going to be a judge and like Clarence Thomas there will be a black mark on his name throughout history.

We can never really know what happened but also the question won’t be put to rest because even the most cursory of investigations will never happen.

If there was a proper investigation then there wouldn’t be a “gotcha” moment in front of congress.

An investigation into stuff 36 years ago will simply be asking witnesses that are available. she can still withhold information into the “most appropriate” time.

Great…like that witness that said it DID happen and that there were rumors about it…until people started asking for interviews and it turned out to be rumors about Kavanaughs school, not Kavanaugh and she recanted.
Now what if some other activist from the school says she specifially knew all about it, even saw her come out of the window.
No, its to late to even talk to people from back then. They can say anything and some will.

I have a big problem with this request by her team.

There is a reason the normal order is prosecution goes first and lays out what they claim the defendant did and then the defendant gets to rebut those claims as presented.

Even in a debate pro side goes first an then con responds.

So in this case she wants the defendant basically to go first and answer claims that the plaintiff hasn’t fully made yet so the plantiff can then come in and say “ah, but he didn’t tell you this or that because I hadn’t put forth that claim when the defendant testified first”.

Defendant testifying first then plaintiff is a complete farse but they know that which is what that is what they want to do.

Even if an FBI investigation took place you don’t do defendant then plantiff for testimoy. You just don’t. Even a regular trial where there is a full police investigation the plantiff and those results are first then the defendant counters.

There are reasons trials and debates work in a certain order - to make it the most fair for all parties. What she is wanting is an unfair playing field where after Kav testifies she can bring up whatever she wants and he has no ability to rebut them.

It is in the GOP’s interest to investigate the situation before the vote.

Imagine that they rush through the vote next week and new and more credible allegations come out next month.

What would that mean for the likely 50 Republicans that voted for him without a thorough vetting?

He would be a lifetime appointment albatross around their necks.
