American soldiers recently deployed to the United States’ southern border with Mexico ahead of the approaching ‘migrant caravan’ began preparations this week; laying 1,000 feet of barbed-wire fencing weeks before thousands of immigrants are set to arrive in the region.

According to the New York Post, “The soldiers worked with US Customs and Border Patrol officers to lay about 1,000 feet of fencing along the river, the Defense Department said. The makeshift barrier was installed underneath the McAllen-Hidalgo International Bridge, which crosses into Mexico. The overpass is in the small town of Hidalgo, about 250 miles south of San Antonio.”

Members of the US Border Patrol called the fencing ““necessary preparations” as upwards of 4,000-8,000 migrants march north through Mexico.

The President confirmed last week that his administration was prepared to send upwards of 15,000 US troops to the region to help prevent the ‘migrant caravan’ from entering the United States illegally.
