Oliver North to be new NRA president

Oopsie. This right-wing blog says differently.

Quote:

“Writing after the conviction but before Gesell dismissed the charges, one could call North a “convicted felon” without seriously misleading the reader. But one could even today reasonably call North a “felon” minus the “convicted” part since factual guilt was more-or-less established even if moral guilt might remain in doubt.”

He’s not replacing La Pierre

I agree. Great op.

And you call yourself a journalist?

What is everyone complaining about regarding the Mueller investigation? Oh, yeah. “Process crimes.”

Oliver North’s felony convictions vacated for “process issues” related to what was supposed to be limited immunity in his testimony before congress. Not matters of fact.

Look at the bright side. If they ever need to funnel money through multiple entities he can advise them.

He secretly sold arms to the Revolutionary Government of Iran to drum up some side cash so he could break the law on giving support to counterrevolutionaries in Nicaragua through his good friend Manuel Noriega, all while being convicted of illegally taking bribe and destroying documents related to the crime with his secretary, Fawn Hall.

Law and Order baby!!!

Try actually reading the thread next time before you make a comment.

He illegal made a deal with Iran to smuggle gun to the Contra that used them to kill innocent people.

he doesn’t deserve any respect.

A felon? Too funny.

"In November 1986, as the sale of weapons was made public, North was dismissed by President Ronald Reagan.

In July 1987, North was summoned to testify before televised hearings of a joint congressional committee that was formed to investigate the Iran–Contra scandal. During the hearings, North admitted that he had lied to Congress previously, for which and other actions he was later charged. He defended his actions by stating that he believed in the goal of aiding the Contras, whom he saw as freedom fighters against the Sandinistas and said that he viewed the Iran–Contra scheme as a “neat idea.”

Well, if there’s anyone who knows about guns, it’s North. He certainly ran enough of them.

Yes, we all know North committed felonies. I appreciate his military service but it does seem a bit tarnished by the fact he committed some serious felonies.

“North was tried in 1988. He was indicted on 16 felony counts, and on May 4, 1989, he was initially convicted of three: accepting an illegal gratuity, aiding and abetting in the obstruction of a congressional inquiry, and ordering the destruction of documents through his secretary, Fawn Hall. He was sentenced by U.S. District Judge Gerhard Gesell on July 5, 1989 to a three-year suspended prison term, two years probation, $150,000 in fines, and 1,200 hours of community service. North performed some of his community service within Potomac Gardens, a public housing project in southeast Washington, D.C. However, on July 20, 1990, with the help of the American Civil Liberties Union (ACLU), North’s convictions were vacated, after the appeals court found that witnesses in his trial might have been impermissibly affected by his immunized congressional testimony.”

How does the NRA feel about TOW missiles? While his record is not strong on the manufacturing side, Mr. North has a strong record in the distribution sector of TOW missiles, being a key player in TOW missile supply chain management for the Iranian Revolutionary Government.

I’m sure that will come in handy as he takes on his new role as the face of the NRA.

So you’re saying it will finally be legal to own a rocket launcher? Woohoo!

Shall not be infringed.
