I just saw that the labels of Cream of Wheat, Aunt Jemima, Uncle Ben’s Rice and Mrs. Butterworth’s Syrup are being redone or done away with.

They all have pictures of Black people on them except Mrs’ Butterworth. It’s just a dark bottle shaped like a fat woman.

Aunt Jemima used to look like a mammy. That was changed years ago. She now looks like Diana Ross. I guess that’s still not good enough.

Quaker Oats still has a picture of an old White Quaker on it. No mention of changing it. I have no idea why not.

yeah…that’s the way you see it. These companies have made billions off the faces, likenesses and representations of slaves. you know it and I know it.

I have no problem in realizing that my culpability in buying some of these products contributes to that…and I want it to stop too.
