Unbelievable.

In a thread about abortion, the righties argues for the right to life, often considered an inalienable right created by God. But push up against any 2A restrictions, and suddenly that dearly held faith seems to go out the window.

Unreal.

Owning a gun doesn’t kill anyone.

An abortion kills a child every single time.

Having the right to privacy or to choose doesn’t kill anyone. Only when the choice is abused for sake of personal preference and shirking of responsibility will someone be killed. (I don’t actually view choice in this manner but there is an argument to be made).

Abuse of the second amendment right kills innocent people

Abuse of the right to privacy kills innocent people.

We wave away the first and pound our chests as to the second. There is a comparison to be made. Though i am sure differences can be found like for example that there is no right to privacy in the constitution

I am very much pro both the 2nd and the existence of the right to privacy.

Not at all, but I do think both sides need to come to the table in good faith on this matter. There are always going to be disagreements as to what should or should not be allowable. But let’s put some practical matters to bed. A rape victim or incest victim should not be forced to carry and deliver the child of their rapist. A woman should not be forced to carry a dead or non-viable fetus to term. A woman should not be forced to grow a tumor in her uterus because it was a failed pregnancy that is still secreting HCG.

There aren’t many Liberals that would argue a woman should be able to terminate a viable pregnancy of a healthy fetus past a certain number of weeks. There is common ground here.

I just don’t see that level of reality for a lot of folks on the Right. Forcing a woman to carry a tumor and then saying that her wanting a D&C is grandstanding, or is affecting other cancer patient’s wait in line for surgery is absolutely bonkers. Forcing an 11y/o to carry a rape baby is sick. Forcing a woman to wait until she is septic before her miscarriage can be removed is criminal.

You guys won, Roe is gone. But get it in your head, some amount of reality needs to leak in from the Right and some exceptions need to be realistically allowed, even in the reddest of states. Because those cases are letting folks know how far the Right will go with this, and that is going to cause the Right to lose a whole lot of elections.

This is political suicide, get a grip for God’s sake.

Leftists don’t post here. Most of us were Conservatives at one point, and all of us want to be challenged and disagreed with because we hate discussing things in echo chambers. We are all in the Lion’s den and for the most part, are more comfortable conversing with Conservatives than other Liberals. I think, to a person, every one of us understands why a 2 party system needs two viable parties that each contribute with their ideals and ideas.

The GOP used to be the rational party, less emotional and more pragmatic. Very patriotic, very pro-military and cop, strong 2nd amendment advocates and Pro-Life. Then Trump came along.

Now? It is just whatever he wants. Cops? They can be beaten to an inch of their lives and the GOP calls their assaulters political prisoners. Beaten with US Flags, mind you. The same flag the GOP used to protect from any insult is now being used as a weapon to protect Trump. The Constitution doesn’t matter either, the peaceful transfer of power is a key component to our country and the GOP has little to no regard for that anymore, its just election denials and conspiracy theories, all to protect Trump.

The GOP bitches non-stop about the border, has a perfectly good border bill passing the Senate and refuses to pass it in the House because Trump wants the border to be an issue for the general election.

And we have a woman with a tumor in her uterus that can’t get it expelled because, somehow, this is some sort of leftist plot to undermine the right to life. You can’t make this ■■■■ up.

I know Leftists, have been around them. They wouldn’t post here in a million years, and if they did they would be banned inside of 5 minutes. Not everyone from the Left is a “critprog”, whatever that is. Most of us here are economically Conservative and Socially Liberal. And around stronger leaning Liberals, we don’t fit in and are often accused of being secret Conservatives. For me in particular, I just got older and a lot of the stuff the young Left espouses seems silly and counter productive. Stuff like pronouns, letting Trans women compete against biologic women, etc. No point to any of that.

Take you and me, for instance. I know how consistently pro-life you are and have never given you a moment’s trouble over it, even though we disagree I respect how consistent you are. That isn’t being “Leftist”. Nor do I insult folks. Just, perhaps, their arguments. But that is sort of the point to this place, I think.
