OFFISHAL OHIO Special Electshon Thread

Turnout for the special election was down by about 176,000 compared to 2016 which is typical for odd month special elections.

This is no reflection of what we can expect in Nov where there will probably be at least another 100k votes cast.

Washington is a lost cause. That state has befallen progressive idiots worse than Oregon. To get a Repub in Washington will not ever ever happen again.

Oh most definitelyi agree on Washington. It’s amazing seeing the results. Won’t be able to comment to much on it tomorrow though will be kayaking around San Juan island.

I expect the loss of a few house seats but that republicans remain in at least marginal control of both houses.

As the dem’s ramp up the “We’ll impeach Trump as our first order of business”, it’s going to be a huge motivator for Republicans and independents to turnout.

How many blue collar workers do you know?

That’s the blue wave that I see, and it ain’t for Socialists.

You live in this area too? I love it, but not the politics so much.

Washington was once a beautiful place. Then Seattle took over.

I live south of SeaTac. (Need to be able to reach my gate within 2 ht call ) but my brother who has been studying whale sharks for past 6 years is visiting so we are doing a orca kayak trip.

The thing is, in the last 25 or so years I’ve been living here I’ve seen it go further and further left.

The Pacific and Atlantic coasts are going more liberal and the rest of the country (except for Illinois and NM) more conservative.

Have a great time. The weather is perfect for it now, assuming you like the heat. Also @conan is from Washington, don’t know about other posters.

It still is beautiful. I don’t l like the politics but not much I can do about it, except move back to the midwest.

It’s sure embarrassing when the only other option besides Rick Larsen now is Uncle Mover, but it’s not as though anyone else running was any more credible.

Illinois turned into a ■■■■■■■■■ I grew up there, and punched out because I could see the writing on the wall.

Now they are drowning in debt and being slaughtered in No-Self-Defense zones. Damn shame.

Funny thing is…they do it again in November.

Awesome sauce boss!

They don’t run because they know they don’t have a chance at all.

I hope you are right. But as I said, if Rs are wiped out in WA that’s three seats right there. I hope that Cathy McMorris Rodges at least holds on but it doesn’t look good.

The combined D vote (it’s a top two primary system) is greater than the R vote in those districts with R incumbents. And the Senate candidate will do well if she gets 40% of the vote.

As far as calling for impeachment, aside from Maxine Waters it’s possible many Ds won’t talk about that. But even if they took the House and impeached, there is no way 2.3 of the Senate will vote to remove him from office, unless Mueller finds something that is really, really bad.

Stupid should hurt, and it always eventually does.

Illinois is the model.

It was only I think 3 election cycles ago that Larsen barely kept his seat. He was in other tight races as well. Now only joke candidates are running against him. There is no incentive to vote when not only the House seat but Senate seat are not even remotely in play. Only reason might be other things on the ballot.

The state has taken a sharp turn left and likely won’t elect another R statewide for a long, long time.

Republicans had to dump 5 million into defending a +11 seat, that isn’t good.

I see Cruz is asking Trump to come campaign for him as well.

There’s a pretty good reason you’re seeing a wave of house Republicans tapping out and retiring.

Yep, that’s what happens with left wing policies. I think though that Illinois would be red, or at least purple, if the rest of the state separated from Chicago.

In Washington the eastern part of the state, and to a lesser extent southern WA to the Oregon border has been red, but even that might be changing. Cathy McMorris Rodgers is from the Spokane area and is now in serious danger of being defeated.
