The price of oil per barrel is over $110 this morning. Charles Payne was on Fox last night doing post speech analysis talking about oil prices skyrocketing within minutes of Biden’s announcement of releasing a little more from the strategic oil reserves…

I know the QT where I usually fill up has gone up 40 cents a gallon in the last week or two.

I was sitting in a fast food line last week and saw the gas station across the road suddenly flip from 3.07 to 3.49.

It will go up even more now.

Oil price doesn’t need to be as high as today’s prices though. That I will grant you. I’d estimate that oil companies start to feel varying levels of pain if oil price drops below $50/bbl so we have a huge cushion right now.

$50 is a sweet spot, not the “huge pain” threshold. It can be harder to break in.

Note, i didn’t say that was the “huge pain” spot, I said it started to get varying levels of pain below that. Some companies operate in higher break even areas while some are better positioned.
