Obstruction: Trump told Whitaker to reinstate recused SDNY on Cohen Case

Anyone want to start a pool for how long it will be before Trump’s defenders announce Whittaker is a liberal Democrat who donated to the Hillary Clinton campaign?

I believe this is new and sheds light on why so many members of the press office have found themselves sitting in front of Mueller.

As Mr. Trump was lunching with Mr. Christie, lawyers in the White House Counsel’s Office met with Mr. Spicer about what he should say from the White House podium about what was a sensitive national security investigation. But when Mr. Spicer’s briefing began, the lawyers started hearing numerous misstatements — some bigger than others — and ended up compiling them all in a memo.

Is there any way we can go back to the simpler times like when a president threw a baseball like a girl or rode a bicycle with his daughters?

I dunno. Repeated, almost ritualistic, obstruction of justice is so much better for the nation than mom jeans.

I would say that addressing childhood obesity was the real socialist plot.

I don’t think anything tops wearing a sleeveless dress.

Trump asked Whittaker if he could put him in charge. Whittaker told Trump no, he couldn’t. End of story except for NYTs. Whittaker is revising his statement to say yes he was pressured? No, he isn’t.

Youre not getting it - that is the story.

The President of the United States asked his newly appointed AG if he (the AG) could step in to a criminal investigation against an associate of his (the President), and replace the prosecutor with a friend.

That’s not a nothingberder.

Add it to the long list of why you shouldnt put a 6 times bankrupt reality show clown in charge of the country.

Mr. “Law and Order” may very end up having the most corrupt administration since Nixon.

At least check out his taxes first. If it’s good enough for the other losers…

He asked…and was told it wasn’t appropriate…and let it go. Yes, it was a nothingburger.
I get it. I’m just not joining in.

You don’t think he knew it was innappropriate before he asked?

Honestly, with Trump we can’t be sure. Either he’s acting in bad faith, or he has no understanding of reality.

The two will barely compare when all is said and done.

It’s obvious why Trump hates the press. They keep exposing him (and he’s not smart enough to outsmart them).

No he didn’t.

Since non of us were privy to the conversation, none of us know how it went or if or how Trump tried to apply pressure.

You keep repeating this like its the end of the story…

If you attempt a murder they dont let you go. If you attempt to rob a bank they dont let you go…

If you attempt to obstruct justice i guess they should let you go…

Thats your logic…now either youll understand were you are wrong or are going to triple down on this dumb idea Whittaker saying no is the end of it.

I know which you will pick…

Yes, he DID!

Wait, did what? Who are you responding to?

How 'bout some context, dude.

Does that even matter? My understanding is that, to protect the independence of the DOJ, the President almost NEVER weighs in on the specifics of an ongoing investigation. He sure as hell keeps his nose out of it when he’s a potential target.

Cons, listen up! These safeguards, which you’ve zealously defended as the “law and order” party for decades, exist for precisely these circumstances! They can’t be disregarded simply because the President has a six-year-old’s understanding of law and government.
