My own assessment is the President seemed most concerned that some States’ processes for the November election did not go through the state’s legislature.

Fair…now there are legal avenues he took and they were rejected at that point you stop stirring the pot instead he choose to promote the lie that the election was fraudulent. This lie was the catalyst for what ended up happening at the Capitol no way around it.

McConnell will not reconvene Senate early to vote on impeachment

Senate Republican leader Mitch McConnell made clear Wednesday that he will not be reconvening his chamber early to accept the article of impeachment on President Trump.

Notice the word you chose. Lie. You claim the President was lying. Is the President allowed to be mistaken? I do not know everything he saw, the investigations some of his advisors made. All I know is what I saw, where my own investigations took me, and I concluded President Trump lost. Had things turned out differently, would everyone conclude I was lying? Or would the conclusion be that I was mistaken?

Throwing words like “incite” and “lie” is not proper testimony–not unless one is able to first absolutely rule out “stimulate” and “mistake”. One has to be able to measure the accusation.

Otherwise it could reasonably be said that the person using those words is just as guilty–if not more so–of “inciting” and “lying.” Let the President and the GOP be. Since that is what people seem to want, start up that Democrat Machine and let it have its head." If they keep turning back, they are ones more likely to turn into a pillar of salt.

He lied plain and simple and continues to…the statement “the election was stolen” is a lie no way around that.

There is zero evidence to the contrary and not from lack of trying, it just does not exist

The “stop the steal” movement was built and organized on a lie and the biggest promoter of that lie is Trump

Your opinion. On the other hand, President Trump sincerely believes, which indicates a mistake.

What I find interesting: People who judge Trump for not reining in while urging the Dem Machine to go ahead with Impeachment at Warp Speed.

Trump sincerely believes the election was stolen? That’s the peg you’re going to hang your hat on?

Not an opinion this is a fact, the election was not “stolen” repeating that it was is a lie

Trump got fact checked in real time and his court cases rejected, at that point there was no viable option but instead he choose to keep repeating his lie.

"Raffensperger: Well Mr. President, the challenge that you have is, the data you have is wrong. We talked to the congressmen and they were surprised.

But they — I guess there was a person Mr. Braynard who came to these meetings and presented data and he said that there was dead people, I believe it was upward of 5,000. The actual number were two. Two. Two people that were dead that voted. So that’s wrong. There were two."

Do you know the President’s beliefs? Were the results proven to his satisfaction? All we have to go on for the President’s beliefs are his words. You call these beliefs lies. On the other hand I present the idea that the President is mistaken in his beliefs.

You seem adamant that there is no possibility the President is mistaken in his beliefs. The reason you say this is because the election was proven to your satisfaction. Therefore, because the election was proven to your satisfaction, President Trump could no longer reach his own conclusions. You feel he was mandated to reach your conclusions. We know what your conclusions are. Therefore, if you were to now announce the election was fraudulent, you would be lying. Can you name the day and time President Trump announced that the election results were proven to his satisfaction? If you can’t, then the fact remains that the President may be mistaken in his conclusions, but he is certainly isn’t lying about them.

You don’t agree the election was stolen. Neither do I. Where we differ, is that you are certain you can see past the President’s actual words and announce he is lying. I, on the other hand, listen to what the President has been saying and feel he is mistaken.

If you an average citizen can look at it with sober eyes and realize that the election was not “stolen” yet our President is incapable of grasping this fact given all the power’s he has at his disposal…So what your saying is that Trump is a child?

You can believe whatever you want, but this idea that its a “belief” and thus not a lie falls on the face of logic

Soooooooooo…it was trump’s subliminal messages that FORCED them to go do that…Gotcha’

I don’t know all the power at the President’s disposal, do you? Speaking of power, power corrupts and how much corrupted DC power surrounds the President? With everything that has happened to this Administration it should be possible to agree that enemies and corruption surrounded it. He has had to fight every step of the way, and if he concluded this was just another fight, there was good reason for that conclusion–even if it was in error.

That is why I am more interested in how people are treating this President and his last few days in office. I do not see much, if anything, to be proud of. Some people may find great satisfaction of watching a man being kicked when he is down and even adding a few kicks of their own.

We all should be better than this. President Trump served. Despite his every fault and flaw, he served. Now our own faults of how we treat our fellow man are on display, and it is not pretty.

If it bothers you when a president lies, why wasn’t you upset at the daily lies of Obamma, Clinton, & I’m sure that President select Biden should give you plenty of outrage…

Trump has lied about the election since it happened. He has lied about 100’s of other things as well.

There has been a successful call for impeachment over lying about the free and fair elections such that it resulted in people attacking our capitol.

pretty simple really.

Any chance you could stay on topic?

It’s odd…he could have easily used covid to win a second term. It was a lay up…but his flaws got the best of him.

And yes, anything that he accomplished (understanding our views on that differ) will be overshadowed by the lies he told since the election. Again, such a rookie mistake. Could have left being something of a success in the eyes of the GOP and conservatives.

But he blew it.

Lying over mistaken is a judgement call.

no, it’s a lie that trump won in a landslide and there was rampant fraud. That’s not a judgment call.

Still unclear how you know the President’s thoughts and beliefs. I am going by what he said. It is clear he believed these things. That makes him mistaken, not a liar.
