Bragg only just released his memo. Its too soon to see if his policies will make Manhattan less safe.
Oh, but we do know the results of such policies:
“Two years ago, a person arrested would be in custody and set to be arraigned in 72 hours,” said Moore. “Today, that process is, with the zero-bail, that person is in and out back in the community and their next court appearance is an arraignment that’s four or five months out.”
Moore said homicides have gone up about 50% since 2019 and aggravated assaults have gone up about 16%.
If people who are released on recognizance are committing crimes then the problem isn’t the lack of bail, its that the people responsible for determining if an offender is a threat or flight risk are not doing a good job.

Bragg’s policy doesn’t refer to homicides and aggravated assaults. Are you implying that people who are arrested for non-violent offenses and released on recognizance are going and killing people?

But when he was arraigned in Manhattan Criminal Court early Sunday morning, the robbery charge was dropped by the Manhattan DA’s Office and he was instead charged with two counts of petit larceny and related low-level offenses, including second-degree menacing, court papers show."
Menacing in the second degree is a class A misdemeanor.
The article goes on to note: “At the time of Rolon’s arrest Saturday, he was wanted in Brooklyn for failing to appear in court in October on charges that include felony assault with a weapon, records show.”

Guess my interpretation of the memo was wrong. Despite that, its still too soon to see if his policies will make Manhattan less safe unless you have evidence that Rolon robbed the drug store because of the memo.
Says the dude who usually responds to most posts with a facepalm or eyeroll image and then just repeats what he wrote earlier.
So robbery would be changed to a misdemeanor if the gun’s unloaded, even when using it in a threatening manner. Good to know.

You fit right in with Alvin Bragg’s crowd who is using his power to spread the wealth from those who have worked to earned it to those who steal it.
