““To our 2019 World Cup Champion @USWNT: you have inspired the entire country — and New York City knows how to celebrate champions,” Mayor Bill de Blasio tweeted”
It will be Wednesday starting at 9:30am at the Canyon of Heroes, a stretch of Broadway in lower Manhattan where parades are held, to celebrate the victory. The public can attempt to get tickets starting at 2pm today.
Interestingly, the last ticker tape parade in New York City was to honor the Women’s Wold Cup victory in 2015.
Never been much of a sports fan, but I went to high school a couple of blocks from the “Canyon of Heroes” during a time when the Yankees were winning everything, and I cut class to go to a few of the ticker-tape parades. Lots of fun.
