What would I do? I would say
“There is a epidemic of false asylum claims that are leaving legitmate toruture victims in iran suffering. If you claim that Venezuelais toruturing you then stay Mexico. If you claim Mexico is toruturing you then stay in Costa Rica. We have had too any false claims and we cannot treat every one of them as legit.”

Meanwhile if the only thing we know for sure is that you are a criminal who broke our border laws then we will treat you like a criminal. The BEST you can possibly expect is an immediate flight to a military base near Martha’s Vineyard and you will wait and languish there until your criminal trial is finished. If you are found guilty expect jail time followed by deportation.

Then you want the immigration laws to change.

Until that happens, this is what the law requires we do with these migrants.

That’s an odd statment because DeSantis and other claim all they want is for the border laws to be enforced as written.

I think you will find that 'sancuary cities" are establihed do give people cirmnals sancutary where laws WILL NOT BE ENFORCED

Note: By definition wanting the laws to be enforced means

an end to all sanctuary cities,
INS detains immigrants (no more catcc and release)
on a state bys tate basis illegal obrder crossing is a criminal offense resulting in jail time
working without a working visa is a jail ofrense
and “border patrol” refusies entry to immigrants seeking asylum if they are not in that country (the one form whihc they seek asylum) when making the petition.

I kinda like the law as written, not as imagined and selectively enforced.
