NPR quits Twitter over state affiliated label

They take govt money so they are a govt entity! They are state affiliated. I can’t think of a big govt policy they opposed or any big investigative story that runs counter the this admin, so the label is perfect and they are lying to themselves. If you don’t wan the label. Don’t take the govt funds…

We’re gonna have to call a whole lot of companies government entities now. Do you want a list of the top ones?

Yes, any news company that takes govt money will be favorable to that govt. So, Fine by me.

That’s right… And I’m sure they keep the govt happy to keep getting the money!

People/Companies don’t want to quit Twitter so they have to put up with Musk using it as his fidget spinner. I am surprised NPR didn’t just put up with it.

That is a great analogy

I think companies are quickly realizing that they don’t need Twitter as much as Twitter needs them (this is part of why Twitter under Musk is failing so spectacularly). NPR won’t be the last.

Hell, even Matt Taibbi and the other “Twitter Files” people have quit Twitter at this point.

What’s wrong with having that label, exactly ?

Look forward to seeing the reaction when Truth Social puts the same label on them.

NPR doesn’t like state affiliated label? it isn’t Nevada public radio…

PBS should quit tweeter too as a sign of solidarity.

I presume a lack of any nuance opening up for false equivalency. It’s also a path for Musk to have more fun as I doubt he’ll stop trying to make labels and identifications to his whims.

False equivalency with what , exactly ? DPKR news service ? Not trying to be a smartass, I’m genuinely curious.

They did.

I threw a presume in there, but yeah things like North Korea and Russia Today. To blur the lines with government controlled media so that they’re all the same.

So I am now curious. What is the difference of “that” government when it is run by a Democrat or Republican administration? Or when either of the two houses of Congress flips?

To me , there’s a huge difference when talking about which state the media outlet represents. i.e. in a democratic country, even a state-funded outlet would retain certain editorial independence.

Hmm, expected to see the label here too.

Twitter labels RT as state run, which it is…

Labeling NPR as state run is not accurate. 1% of their funding comes from the Fed.

Musk is juts being an ass…Because he is an ass. There would be no Tesla or Space X w/out government subsidies.
