US District Chief Judge Mark Walker sided with Florida Sen. Bill Nelson’s campaign this week; granting an injunction that extended the deadline to review votes with “mismatched ballots” until 5pm Saturday.

According to Town Hall, the judge effectively delayed Florida’s high-stakes recount well into the weekend and possibly beyond as the nation waits to see the outcome from the Sunshine State’s race for Governor and Senate.

“The precise issue in this case is whether Florida’s law that allows county election officials to reject vote-by-mail and provisional ballots for mismatched signatures — with no standards, an illusory process to cure, and no process to challenge the rejection — passes constitutional muster,” Walker writes in his ruling. "The answer is simple. It does not.”

Sen. Nelson filed a lawsuit earlier this week that urged Florida counties to extend their deadlines to ensure “every vote is counted.”
