Why should a ballot be invalidated if it was received on time and signed, but the only thing the voter did was not write in a date?

Were they? Or do they go out after election date to those that haven’t cast their ballots?

What is there for states to ignore from the Supreme Court on the First Amendment aside from its incorporation against them?
