Think of Otto’s parents having to watch our president publicly fall in love with the dictator who had their son tortured to death, to see him say that Kim probably didn’t even know and he’s a smart guy who loves his people.

He’s flattering Kim as part of a good cop bad cop routine with Bolton. Sometimes one needs to do what needs to be done, regardless of how distasteful that might be.
Does flattery have a limit in this scenario? Can Trump commend Kim on what a good job they did torturing Otto? Can he suggest people he himself would like to have tortured? Can he say he wishes Kim had control of South Korea because he’d be an excellent ruler over a united Korea?
Hey I’m just offering my opinion on what I believe is taking place. I’m not weighing in on whether or not I believe it is a good or bad strategy. I’m happy just to sit back and see how it plays out.
Bolton has never seen a potential conflict that he didn’t wish to send other people’s children to kill or be killed.
