I am paying a lot of attention on all of these state bills that are attacking the voting system. And I am hearing some Republicans who are buying into the spin that these bills address voter fraud concerns. They are not taking the time to read up on what these bills really do. These are bad times for our democracy. And I am convinced that Trump would burn the whole thing down to save his ass and keep promoting the “big lie”.

Just wait until AI advances to the point where it can accurately predict exactly how to control us all. It’s not that far off.

But who will control it? AI scares me to death. And I am very sure that all of the world powers are investing a lot of resources to weaponize it.

Me too. I saw something last week that said we believe Chinese AI will be able to accurately predict every human action and movement on earth by 2030.

I saw that also. The Chinese have been quite vocal about their investment into AI. I can only trust that our guys have jumped on the technology and are getting ready to combat foreign influence. Since WWII we have a tremendous ability to link government with the private sector to do such things.

I think our ethical standards will hold us back more than it will in China. And for good reason. I cannot begin to fathom how we are going to maintain failsafes on programs that become infinitely smarter than the programmers

Who decides “truth”?

Hasn’t it always been. Does consensus not create “fact”?

Bingo! That’s it in a nutshell!

First one must define truth. I would say it is that which comports with reality.

That’s not as clear as it first seems.

You ask a good question? I believe there is a truth but I also believe that our mainstream media have evolved into the biggest group of liars our country has ever seen and they peddle those lies…as the truth, that many buy into and it’s dividing this country.

In politics, so-called “truth” is inseparable from ideology. Do you actually believe that everything in modern progressive ideology represents unbiased and undeniable truth?

The essence of politics is ideology. Furthermore where is this “absolute” political/ideological so-called “truth” you see?

Amen to that. Well spoken.

First not a good example, as I assume was your intent. Scientific facts are far different from political/ideological views. For example do you deny that pure water freezes at 0 degrees Celsius given a specific temperature and pressure? Do you actually believe that statements about the properties of water are in the same realm of testable truths as claims of systemic racism?

Is that statement itself “true”? It sure seems to be a presupposition in your claim.

In Rotary, there are four questions that each Rotarian asks of themselves, prior to making and acting on a decision in the name of Rotary. It’s called the “four way test” and it actually should apply to us all…each and every day.

Of the things we think, say or do;
First…is it the truth?
Is it fair to all concerned?
Will it build goodwill and better friendships?
Is it beneficial to all concerned?

If each of us applied this to our personal and business lives, the whole of this world would be a much better place.

United we stand, divided we fall. In whose interest is it that we fall?

China’s would be my first response and their money has seriously infiltrated our country in many ways. Just observing the NBA and it’s association with China is a good example and Hollywood is another.
