Not true, it’s not as likely as alcohol or benzo withdrawal but if you are already unhealthy (which most addicts are) it can kill you.

It appears the progs don’t care for the Hegelian dialectic when it is directed at them.
Sans the synthesis of course.

Nothing is “round” then. By this logic there is no object in the universe that would qualify as round.

It looks like the debate on the origins of COVID are really appropriate here, no?

What what? You are basically discussing this with one poster. How did ‘libs’ get into this?

This thread cracks me up.
example. Are their only 2 sexes?
How do you know what you said there is actually true? A blind person may consider your talk of colours as mumbo-jumbo.

zantax:
Again, our idea or perception of green and the underlying light spectrum are not the same things. If anything relies on how my senses are configured to exist it isn’t an actual part of underlying reality. That part of the light spectrum would still exist if I was color blind, but green doesn’t.
There seems to be an unproven assumption there that what is not apparent to you must depend on the configuration of your senses to exist at all.
Why is that “true”? By that standard how is anything real?

You appear to have that backwards. If it relies on my physiology, receptors and brain to exist, it isn’t part of the physical world, it is a construct of my mind. It is subjective as opposed to objective reality.

If it exists for others but not for you, it seems flawed for you to ascertain it’s unreality based on the special pleading of the quality of your own personal sensory apparatus, which may be damaged.
If Arsenal beats Leeds United on the pitch 3-2. but the majority of media transpose the scores to 2-3, and many of their audience believe the transposition because to them it is from reliable sources, ten days later, who really won the game?

My green exists for me, your green exists for you, no green actually exists in the real world.
Actually I’m not arguing for anything. I’m simply sharing my observations.

OK all. I have been here for 14 years watching both sides fight about what is true and not. It is becoming clear to me that it is easier and easier to find like minded people no matter how far left or right one is, or how crazy a conspiracy theory is, thanks to 21st century technology. It’s getting to the point that there really isn’t a common set of facts anymore. I see us getting to the point that there will be no such thing as ‘truth’.
Here’s my question for all:
How the heck are we going to deal with a world where there is essentially no such thing as the truth?
Yes, we live in the world of lies. The left invented ridiculing those who disagree with you . Alinsky rules.
50 years of failed climate predictions. Fast and Furious. IRS oppression of the right. 3 years of Russian collusion lies. Intel feeds lies to the press to show FISA and no one cares. Samantha powers unmasked 300 Americans and no one cares. “It was a video”. Trump is Racist. White Privilege. Statistically impossible “elections”. It was from Bats. Masks work! = all Fake news…
