Well, why is whataboutism used so frequently in political arguments ? I’d say because it’s almost always true - both sides apply a double standard

Because for the most part, our choice is binary, only natural to contrast and compare.

I’m agreeing with you. The fringes of both sides rely heavily on victim status (and rage when they don’t get their way), the fringes of both sides use whataboutism as a convenient dismissal of criticism rather than engage in honest critical examination.
Edit: Both sides. Both sides. Both sides.
Let’s refer to the Presidential Circles of Suck to answer that.

Not quite.
John Quincy Adams and Benjamin Harrison. Both elected with a minority of the popular vote. Both losing the popular vote in the subsequent election.
Rutherford Hayes did not run for reelection. Bush won his reelection with the most votes.

Not all political celebrations. Just the ones where politicians know their legislation will harm others and still chuckle in front of the camera anyway.

I said before… I don’t dismiss you at all.
I wish the GOP was a party that I could vote for again.
There is no unity & never will be as long as the left and the right continues as is.
Why come to the table when you have been told you can come along for the ride but you have to sit in the back of the bus?
