I used to get my water from a private water company. They owned the mineral rights beneath my feet so I couldn’t dig a well, and their piped their horrible water in at rip off cost and awful quality. That’s a monopoly. Texas said it was fine though so I moved.

I don’t need facebook for anything. Anything that can be done on facebook is something that everyone can do somewhere else. Look at the kids, they don’t even care about Facebook, might as well be the town bingo hall to them.

He is certainly welcome to compete in the free market. There’s no more violation of the 1st Amendment in online/social media than there is in AM radio.

Why he was cackling is beside the point, he knew it was a very divisive piece of legislation and that half the country abhorred it. It wasn’t appropriate to be gleeful about it.

Are you suggesting the government get more involved in the free market related to media? Maybe a doctrine of some sort, related to fairness?

Nope, simple principle that doesn’t require much government interference, no bans or deplatforming because tech companies don’t like the content of otherwise legal speech. That is fair to all sides. Think of it as net neutrality for social media. Or, a prohibition against not baking gay wedding cakes.
