The owner of the gym, identified by Fox News as Jim Chambers, defended his policy on local news, saying, “We’ve had an explicitly stated ‘no cop’ policy since we opened, and we also don’t open membership to active members of the military.”
This story is at least a year old. Despicable as those values are, this gym is a private, not a public sector, entity, & they have the right to refuse service to whomever they want.
I remember hearing of a gym, New York State, I believe, that revoked the membership of those who hadn’t worked out at least three times a week. Maybe the member was something like out of town, or injured, but still their membership was revoked.
Again, not too reasonable, IMO, but they have the right to accept or reject application, continue or revoke membership as they see fit.
