Recently sworn-in Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez clammed-up this week when asked if she supports Venezuela’s socialist President Nicolas Maduro; saying she will “defer” to Democratic leadership on the escalating political crisis sweeping the once-rich nation.
“I defer to caucus leadership on how we navigate this,” Ocasio-Cortez told reporters after opposition leader Juan Guaido’s attempted overthrow appeared to stall in Caracas.
“We obviously need to advocate for a peaceful end to this process in a way that sustains [Venezuela’s] democracy,” deflected Sen. Kamala Harris.

Controversial Congresswoman Ilhan Omar publicly blamed the United States for Venezuela’s humanitarian crisis; saying the Trump administration is actively “making it worse” for the country’s starving citizens.
