I’m not sure what you are looking for here…I would love for there to be no need for labels for these folks…but as long as people label them freaks and deviants and worse, there is a need to take control of their identity…to brand them a different way. To be able to explain, no, they aren’t ‘freaks’, they are ‘gay’ or ‘trans’ or whatever.

Maybe someday it won’t be required, but that ain’t today.

No, by making doctrine for public schools to tell them. You can tell your kids whatever you want. You don’t get to tell my kids anything about it.

I think it’s perfectly appropriate for a school to hold the position that every kid in their charge is cared for, and loved, and respected, and to encourage every kid in their charge to be OK with who they are.

And it’s perfectly reasonable for parents to say that someone else’s personal issues are none of their ■■■■■■■ business nor is it their child’s business.

Secondly as stated before that’s my child and my tax dollars and that I have every ■■■■■■■ right to object to anything my child is being taught.

Finally about this concern that trans kids are going to be bullied. First of all the likelihood of knowingly coming in contact with such a person is virtually zero. I worked in education for 20 years and during that time there was 0 trans kids I knowingky came in contact with. Secondly all these types of issues can easily be handled in a schools discipline and bullying policies. Very simple, students are not to pick on anyone for any reason.

It’s not talked about much in history books. Right after the civil war, as part of reconstruction, the government flooded the south with certain skills. Among the first were school teachers.

The goal was to indoctrinate the next generation, instilling a new sensibility. To impose the new values on a defeated populace. Mores. To make sure it never happened again.

Of course the fear was very real.

Crits do the same thing, for the same noble motivation. “Fascism”, to use one word to cover it all, must be constantly battled, even if it no longer exists, lest it return. Constant crisis.

You can hear it if you listen to them. They use the dog whistle buzzwords over and over. Bush was a fascist. Trump was a fascist. The comparisons to Hitler. “Bigot” - like a 1963 Alabama sheriff. “Racist”.

If you don’t think homosexual/trans are “normal”, you’re a hateful homophobe.

(By the way crits - if they are called “gays”, why am I still a “homophobe”?)

Im not sure it is. This is the process, right? At one time we were having these discussions about womens right to vote, Jim Crow, gay marriage….and other things too…Aca tax cuts everything.

Things change because people start to see things differently. They start pushing for change. Sometimes it happens sometimes it doesn’t.

On the whole I think we change for the better but it’s hard and takes time and is ofeten mey with similar objects as to what we’re seeing here.

It’s the way of things.

And on this topic as I’ve said I’m not sure at what age these talks should happen but it’s really not outrageous to thing teachers should tell kids that are ok. They aren’t weirdos or freaks because they feel different from others about this stuff.

But it’s a tough subject especially for - all due respect - older people. And if you aren’t aware of a family ember or loved one who has dealt with this stuff it’s easy to thing it’s much ado about nothing. And on the other hand once you see it first hand I think people thing differently about it.

Are you ready? Here’s one ripple from teaching this; an increase in suicides, drug use and depression. I can hear those ignorant today of what’s coming stating later on, “there’s no correlation”.

That’s mostly going to come from parental failure. This is a positive message of validation, something that shouldn’t be new to an 8 year old anyway.
