NJ School Segregation Lawsuit does not go the way the plaintiffs hoped

That’s not all private K-12 schooling, but still the number seems pretty large month after month.

There’s also been a large exodus of teachers retiring or just leaving the profession. Also, not as many teachers entering the profession.

This is new jobs newly created vs last month.

BLS contacts 122,000 employers representing ~660,000 worksites and asks
“How many people worked for you this month?”
It reports the number is unadjusted and seasonally adjusted formats.

The taxpayers should be overjoyed, the school district or whoever does the transportation will be have to acquire additional equipment and drivers. Good luck with that, there’s a nationwide shortage of school bus drivers now!
Flooding schools with Joey’s illegal invaders will diminish what standards even exist and send them into the crapper. Teachers are struggling now as it is with students who are in classes and they can’t speak English or do basic math or reading. I’m not sure rezoning low income housing into affluent neighborhoods is a good idea.

I’m sure one the agreed on solutions will be the development of so-called “magnet” schools, which can be situated in locations accessible to students from a number of different towns. The problem will be the cost. The other solution will be to bus kids to different schools based on race, which will face resistance, further lawsuits and logistical issues. Regarding logistics you could be talking about some kids sitting on buses for 2-3 hours so they can get bused across multiple towns.

News flash…the larger problem that needs to be addressed are the parents of the children who are failing in school. They are not doing their job in guiding their children into adulthood along the path of education. Do you inspect their homework to see that it’s done? Do you attend the Parent/Teacher Conference day and converse with the teachers working with your child to see if they have any complaints or recommendations? Until this is resolved…the only thing bussing these kids to other schools will do, is bring down the grades of those children do to the disruption these educationally, failing children bring with them.

Oh…but “we” can’t talk about this subject. That’s waaaaacism.

Then instead of supporting legalized child abuse, the answer is to remove one testicle and one ovary of each failing parent. Then…although “we” haven’t fixed the problem, it can not exacerbate.

Lousy parents create lousy children and lousy children make lousy students and lousy students make lousy schools. US schools are in decline and will continue on that trajectory as more and more US children are born to single mothers along with the flooding of the nation with the world’s poverty and problems.

Two responses. First, the thread is not about abortion. Second, abortion is legal in NJ so clearly it has nothing to do with the inability for these single mothers to get an abortion if that’s their wish.

That depends on the specifics of the area and the mechanics can be different.

For example. Most cities have large swaths of R-1 zoning (standard single family homes on around a quarter acre of land).

Break up some of that unused zoning area. Leave some as R-1 but change some of that to medium density (small apartment buildings). Create some areas of low income R-1. This can be done by reducing required lot sizes, required structure size, eliminating requirements for off street parking (i.e. no garage, no carport, no driveway). Smaller, cheaper, affordable starter homes are the result and would be in proximity to higher income neighborhoods and would share the same schools.

This is the direction our town is going. there is a lot of pushback and some - imo - legit questions about it producing the expected results. But our town is an anomaly in terms of real estate valuations, which might change the calculus.
