People are also clearly not happy with the Biden presidency. There is no way to diminish that.

Oh absolutely not. When Democrats gain a little power, they always try to go too far left. There is now way around that. They have only a 4 vote margin in the House and a tie in the Senate. Yet, they still feel that they have this huge mandate. If it wasn’t so sad who they end up giving power to, it would be comical.

Respectfully “too far left” is a campaign slogan. People are being told tht they have gone too far left, but they ran on the agenda and got elected on it.

And republicans often too far to the right.
They got a lot of we hate Trump votes, which is why they only have a 4 seat margin in the house and a tie in the Senate. IF there was a mandate for that agenda Biden would have had bigger coattails and there would be more Dems in the House and Senate.

Government do more vs Government do less.
A lot of people do realize the risks of government do more until it is too late.

No doubt! It’s looking like the white suburban vote is becoming the swing vote in Purple states. IF, Youngkin and the Virginia legislature try to do anything like Texas did with abortion, watch how fast they go running back to the Dems.

That pendulum swing momentum can eventually lead to communo-fascism totalitarianism.
It almost always leads to more authoritarianism.

Agreed. The proletariat is searching for balance. I think the Texas law was a GOP mistake. Good example.
There was no mandate. They lost seats in the house. They won the senate probably because trump told supporters to stay home for the Georgia race at least in small part.
They doesn’t mean that they didn’t present a pretty lefty agenda.
And a lot of people want the government to do more. More of what they like.
First, this thread is not (for me) about future predictions - remember Scott Brown. Regarding the 40 year observation you pointed out, I don’t necessarily think that’s relevant or says much either. That to me says much more about the specific candidate’s and their performance as governor and/or personal situations (i.e. Jim Mcgreevey). The fact is NJ is a solidly blue state that hasn’t voted for a Republican presidential candidate since Reagan, nor has it had a Republican senator in just as long. The Democrat candidate absolutely has an advantage in NJ. Also, unlike VA, very few people that I listened to gave Citarelli a real chance. As a matter of fact our very own Big Al, had Murphy winning easily, and I didn’t disagree with him.

Yup. I remember the outrage over parents listening in on their kids google class meets. It pissed the teachers off.

Especially considering it’s likely to be struck down. At least Democrats learned their lesson last night, nope, double down.

Moderate Democrats argued that the defeat was a sign that Congress must immediately pass the party’s infrastructure bill, regardless of what happens with the shrunken version of Mr. Biden’s legislative agenda. The left blamed the failure of the party to push a broader agenda, including overturning the filibuster to pass liberal priorities like bills protecting the right to vote. And political strategists fear that the party is failing to adequately communicate what Democrats have already done to help the Covid-ravaged country and why they haven’t delivered on issues important to their base.

Blue will probably still prevail in NJ. Incumbent Murphy was very wise to hold off on further mandates like nearby New York City is doing with the vaccine as surely if he did resort to similar tactics prior to election day today would of probably made him be burnt toast.
Personally I don’t think it’s as much about that. The majority of my family and friends are politically Conservative. Within my circles I did not get any sense of real animosity towards Murphy like I did with Corzine, for example. Even as a person who is strongly opposed to the modern Democrat Party, I didn’t have animosity towards Murphy.

Assuming he wins, it’s pretty apparent now that Murphy still will have a fairly significant share of unhappy campers going forward especially considering the COVID-19 death rate in NJ remaining among the worst in the country.
It’s a back lash against Wokeism.
A Wokelash.

Yes, if Murphy squeaks by his margin of victory may well be the voters he killed with his infect the elderly policy.

The real message here is the Republicans understand that the press core being in cahoot with most of the pollster outfits has to still find impactful ways to persuade voters of all parties like in Virginia to trust their own eyes and ears vs what is often reported as misleading on television and the internet about how the races are really stacking up. If pollsters were licensed like physicians most of them by now would of lost their right to practice…
