Is there anyone campaigning staying at a budget to mid level hotel? I just assume they all do, most due to security measures at larger, more luxurious hotels.

I’d also imagine you need lots of space for staff meetings.

That’s a good point. Larger hotels have conference centers. Hampton inn doesn’t.

That’s a good point. Larger hotels have conference centers. Hampton inn doesn’t.

They probably need to hold impromptu meetings frequently inside a candidate’s room with 10+ staffers present. Which would require large suites with good soundproof walls.

Apparently, she did NOT lie about Residence Inns,

In addition to the high-end hotels, Haley’s FEC report also included stays at lower-rated hotels, such as Residence Inn and Hampton Inn, but those stays were not included in the total amount spent on those classified as luxury.

Legitimate questions … Where were the venues of the events she was attending with respect to the hotels where she stayed? Were there “adequate, but not luxurious” hotels in the same vicinity? Were a sufficient number of rooms available at the cheaper hotels at the time the events were scheduled?

It’s a “gotcha” because of her statement that her campaign is being “smart with every dollar.” The critics are presuming that the price of the room is the only factor in being smart with a dollar.

The '24 $30 billion budget for the Space Force is included in the $259 billion budget for the Airforce. Last year, it was $27 billion out of $249 billion. In 2019, the year that the Space Force was carved out of the Airforce, the Airforce budget was only $156 billion, so it does not appear that the creation of the Space Force is the primary factor in that Branch costing so much.

A lot of her support are from people who would vote Democrat:

Yep, she pulls in a lot of voters who would otherwise vote Dem.

There was another Republican who managed to do that in 1980s and won two landslide presidential elections, humiliating the left in the process.

I don’t doubt at all she could perform better than Trump in a general election. The concern is what percentage of the electorate consists of the die hard Trump voter who won’t show up if he’s not the nominee.
