Nikkei Asia: US steel production exceeds Japan's for first time in 26 years

Well there goes my A for attention to detail :upside_down_face:

I’m sure I’ll be labeled a “hater” but US steel prices are double or triple what they are in the rest of the world.

I’ll probably get labeled a racist for this . . . oh wait you call us fascists now (that way you can shoot us)

but steel prices are quoted based on a ton of hot rolled steel (ten-ton minimum)

  • US prices with midwest delivery are $970/ton wiht a Feb 1 delivery date.
  • Shanghai export prices are $405 per ton PLUS DELIVERY of ~$300/ton $705 total.

$970 ton is more than $705/ton but it is not 2-3 times more.

Is it 2-3 times more? It depends on where you take delivery.
