Newsweek: Maine building new apartments to house illegals two-years rent free

Brunswick, Maine, plans to open 60 new apartments for migrants, with 24 of the units already complete, according to local news station WCSH-TV. The units are specifically planned for migrants awaiting their work permits, a process that can take more a year.

The program is being led by the Maine State Housing Authority, the news station reported. . . .

Newsweek story here:

Original story here:

In fairness, Maine is a fairly big-spending liberal state.
In that context, state authorities there have also pledged to try to house every homeless vet in Maine by the end of 2025.

It would be fair to ask
“Why prioritize criminals over American veterans?”
but it’s not like Maine said “Free homes for criminals now and for veterans never.”

Eventually Maine will probably maybe get around to helping people who served out country and did not break the law. It’s just “illegals first” up there.

Here’s a homeless gal, presumably not a vet in Portland Maine

Unfortunately for her she is an American.
Not only does she not get free housing, Maine police recently ordered her and the other nearby American homeless to tear down their tents and move.

Foreign born criminals are our greatest strength. They enrich us culturally.
Americans are just a plain old health hazard and what little tents they call home must be torn down and moved away.

So what else is new other than American citizens being made into taxed slaves for the benefit of foreign nationals who have invaded the United States?

Does Abbott know about this? Get the buses ready.

Get ready people…the Maine exit is about to begin. There should be a law that when the people you elected… ■■■■ up your state, you can not move until you fix it.

Nope now come on guys you all just don’t get it.

All of the 9 or 10 whatever the number is up to now million people coming here from 170 or so different countries are legitimate asylum seekers…they all want to adopt our culture and integrate into our society …

Those nobel travelers are actually far better people than you and me it is incumbent upon you and me to make room, to give up our hospitals and kids schools and parks and neighborhoods and tax dollars so that these virtuous international citizens can improve our lives…

These citizens of the world are demonstrating to all of us that things like borders and national sovereignty are way overrated. Really the emblems of virtue willing to brave the cold waters of the Rio Grande who have dedicated their life savings to their new business partners representing the new travel and tourism divisions of the cartels (highly profitable businesses by the way)…these gems of so many societies to the south east west and north of our backwards country should probably be granted instant citizenship instead of being forced to wait a decade by our silly out of date legal structure. Perhaps it’s time for an immediate mass amnesty…coupled with a 12 month window for the billions of potential world travels to come to America and elevate our country to the standards they have become used to in their home countries!

And of course become reliable voters for the Democrat Party

As the middle east continues it’s fighting, my spider senses are tingling that terrorists have crossed the border and will begin committing very horrendous acts in our nation soon.

I can hardly tell from the article

Does the journalist (Chloe Teboe from NBC NewsCenter) have an opinion on this project?

No no no you don’t understand…

The very deep thinking intellectually superior left wingers on this forum who tell us daily the hero’s of virtue entering our country just want to do the jobs horrible Americans aren’t willing to do…

Shame on Maine for only offering them 2!years of free rent…it should be 5 or 10 and they should actually just start randomly giving the nobel migrants homes currently occupied by backwards legal Americans….

(You know trying to sound like the idiots defending the border disaster just makes you realize how stupid their positions really are…Maine should offer those apartments to people who are struggling who’ve served this country and we need to seal that border!)

I’m sure she just cares more than you do!!!

From the linked Newsweek article…

“Brunswick, Maine, plans to open 60 new apartments for migrants, with 24 of the units already complete, according to local news station WCSH-TV. Does Maine have the ability to print it’s own money or is there a group of people who will be asked to pay for the construction of these new facilities?

“ According to news station WGME, the state will help pay for migrants’ rent using funds approved by the state Legislature. The program has enough funding to pay rent for up to two years, but migrants will need to pay 30 percent of their rent once they find a job, the news station reported.”

Wow…30%!!!

Basically the taxpayers are on the hook.

So what do you suppose the condition of these taxpayer funded domiciles will be after the people who have trashed massive chunks of the southern border are given two years of living in them with no responsibility for them.

That’s what illegals have done to big chunks of Texas.

Terrorists? Probably a few.

I recall that during the 1980 Mariel Boatlift Castro emptied his prisons, giving violent thugs the choice “Stay in prison for life or live free in the USA.”

It would not surprise me if at least one S American leader has done the same.

Here are some stock photos from Lat Am prisons in Venezuela, El Salvador and Mexico. It is not hard to imagine that some leader somewhere is taking advantage of this opportunity.

Putting the needs of criminal invaders over the needs of American veterans let alone American citizens in need is an abomination.
Outraged US taxpayers with cujones should pay close attention. The ballot box is a way to correct the unconscionable but elections happen infrequently.
Something bad will happen it’s just a matter of when and where. And the asshats in power making these foolish decisions are completely to blame.

I’ve been saying that Biden’s disaster of a presidency is doing damage to this country that can never be reversed…the southern border has been overwhelmed…our border officials are pushing paper to try to move illegals down the line…not screening people to see who should or should not be here. They can’t…there are just too many of them. Not to mention 2 million or more gotaways …

A quarter of the asylum seekers arriving in Maine in 2023 are Ukrainian.

The majority of the asylum seekers are either from the Congo, Haiti, and Syria.

Maine has a labor shortage that is exacerbated by a housing shortage. The city of Brunswick has stepped up in a way that I hope to see more of. The city of Lewiston, which has a large Somali Population, is also stepping up in providing for these people.

An asylee (asylum-seeker) is defined by law as any refugee who enters teh US and seeks asylum.

It defines a refugee as
“…(A) any person who is outside any country of such person’s nationality or, in the case of a person having no nationality, is outside any country in which such person last habitually resided, and who is unable or unwilling to return to, and is unable or unwilling to avail himself or herself of the protection of, that country because of persecution or a well-founded fear of persecution on account of race, religion, nationality, membership in a particular social group, or political opinion…” (8 U.S.C. § 1101(a)(42)(A)

Notice the term does not include generic war victims, generic crime victims nor the generic poor.
