Your comment is a damning indictment that does you no credit whatsoever.

So I guess that mean so you won’t be visiting anytime soon. Good.
How can you be so far away from what should be the norm?

Who made you the arbiter of what should be the norm?
Are you REALLY suggesting that it should be the norm for a 12 year old needing to consider using a baseball bat against an active school shooter, then God help your society?

Yes it should be the norm to teach 12 yr-old kids to defend themselves with a baseball bat if necessary, rather than to just stand there with their eyes closed whimpering and peeing themselves, hoping the boogeyman won’t notice them.

Knowledge is power. At high schools in Ohio they routinely practice three types of lockdowns. The drills were developed by studying the past. If the situation didn’t allow escape and barricading yourself in isn’t working or possible, then fighting for your life is part three.
Amazingly you appear to have missed the point that it is necessary in the first place. The fact that over 500,000 students at schools and colleges were impacted recently because of the potential for a mass gun shooting at a school needs to be recognised for the problem it is and steps taken to address same.
I work in the school system and am a first responder meaning I attend security meetings, work with leaders in EMS, police, and teachers. It’s not something I signed up for either - being a point person like this. I don’t go to work worrying about a shooting, but it’s part of my job. I don’t know the overall solution but I believe it won’t be solved quickly. Meantime I’m thankful for the ongoing preparation because it’s better than doing nothing.
One of my favourite saying is that you first need to recognise that there is a problem before you can find a solution. In my opinion the tone of this topic is that there has not been a recognition by some in the USA that there is a problem to be solved.
It is almost midnight here so I won’t prosecute the whole argument again in this post that has been well and truly articulated in this thread by those who think action needs to be taken. Suffice to say that if there are not changes made then what has happened will continue to occur as sure as night follows day.

The problem cannot be solved by disarming those who are not part of the cause of the problem. In fact, that can only result in aiding the problem. This is where the anti-gun mobs argument splits from any sense of reality.

I don’t know what world you live in, but in the real world, bad things happen when you least expect them whether they should or not. Being prepared to deal with them if they occur is better than passing laws to pretend that they can be prevented. Look what a fine job those “gun free zone” signs have done to stop shootings. [/sarcasm]

I must say, you certainly have a high and mighty opinion of your opinion.
That sounds very similar to the Ben Shapiro defence when things aren’t going too well. With the very greatest respect I would suggest that you re-read what you have highlighted. When you do you might come to understand that others have contributed to this topic indicating that indeed changes are required.
Haven’t been here for a while.
You guys found any common ground?
If you mean does one side recognise there is a problem that needs to be resolved? Then the answer is no. They still think it is all about me. And some still have a fixation on sheep.

As I mentioned to you before, pseudo intellectualism does not make a winning argument. You have convinced nobody but yourself.

You have yet to identify the problem. All you can do is talk about is feel-good solutions to symptoms. In medical terms, you want to put band-aids on deep wounds because you don’t know how to treat internal bleeding. No mater how much you want to believe that removing guns from the law abiding majority … the vast majority of the people with guns … addresses the problem, it doesn’t. Not even close. Evil people will continue to do evil things regardless of what tool you take from their toolbox. And by taking our guns, you really aren’t taking theirs. But even if you could, it is by no coincidence that no gun was used to commit several of the largest (in terms of death) mass murders in our country. Evil people will still kill the innocent even if you take my all guns, except then, I will be unable to defend myself or others from them. You may be articulate, but you are not thinking thoroughly. You are playing checkers when the game is chess.
I would with the greatest of respect suggest you research what emergency medical professionals are saying. Then continue your research with Moms (Sic) Demand Action movement followed by the March for Our Lives movement.
