That’s so ■■■■■■ up.
Places that got hit hard are just starting to open up. It will be interesting to see what happens with their cases going forward. I don’t see how NYC can go back to normal with people packed in trains and busses any time soon without their cases skyrocketing again.
Red states were very slow to shut down and now don’t want to wear masks. It was widely predicted that the virus would spike in these areas. There is no scientific evidence of herd immunity which suggests that one you get the virus, you can’t get it again. And since this insidious virus is often asymptomatic, it can still be unknowingly spread to others.
Texas, Arizona, and Florida are in the process of mass killing their citizens.
Uh no. Texas is not. We have a spike in cases.
Texas, Arizona, and Florida are in the process of mass killing their citizens.
Well, no. The citizens are in the process of mass killing themselves, if indeed it turns into a mass of death.
Florida and Texas are still on the uphill side of the trajectory.
The trajectory of what? Cases? So what. We’re all going to test positive eventually.
Florida- 3,280 deaths and counting
Texas- 2,236 deaths and countingNo big deal though, they’re all old baby boomers who were going to drop dead sooner than later.
You will too.
Janet_Miller:Whose killing who? Here are statistics for Texas. The vast majority of sufferers have recovered:

Here is Florida https://covidusa.net/?state=Florida
Testing positive for a virus, as notables who are HIV positive have proved, is not a death sentence without appeal.
“cases” refers to people with symptoms. And even if you don’t die, you can be ill for a long time.
No it doesn’t. It refers to people who tested positive.
Houston ICUs at 97% capacity.

Not exactly true, I know Indiana has been reopening for a while and their numbers look pretty decent. Illinois as well.
There are some posters on this forum who get pretty nasty if links aren’t provided. Have you a link to support that assertion?
W_and_C: reflechissez: W_and_C:I wonder if the reason these East coast and mid-atlantic states are doing so well now is because they have at least partial herd immunity.
And places that weren’t hit super hard before are bad now.
At this point, we all just may have to go through it, I guess (or at least 60% of us)
There is no evidence of herd immunity. If they had NOT shut down AND their numbers dropped, you would have a point.
Between March and April, everywhere in the states had some sort of a stay-at-home order (with exception of South Dakota maybe, who still had a partial shutdown). Difference is those particular places got hit especially hard.
And so, places that got hit hard are doing better now and places that didn’t , are doing worse. I doubt they have true herd immunity (60%+) - it’s probably considerably lower - but we have to consider that in some ways, it may be a factor.

Right - this isn’t scientific evidence, this is just me theorizing.
I know. These people were past their prime anyway.
" FORT WORTH COUPLE MARRIED 53 YEARS DIED OF COVID-19 WHILE HOLDING EACH OTHER’S HANDS"
https://www.star-telegram.com/news/coronavirus/article243755797.html
You think that couple tested positive for COVID why? Because they went back to work? They weren’t wearing masks? They didn’t wash their hands?
Interesting how they died at the same time.
Red states were very slow to shut down
Texas wasn’t.
There are mask orders in all the major cities.
That is newsworthy.
Hopefully they keep everything running and save some some lives.
That reporter has an issue with touching her mask.

I understand.
New York
413,150 cases with 31,340 deaths.
Texas and Fla 234,689 cases 5543 deaths. And those 2 state has more then 2 and half time bigger population. And Fla has larger aged population to boot.
NY and NJ are death states.
Point taken. I was thinking more of the NY, NJ, MA dense states.

Run by Democrats too. Funny how the Libs denouncing Trump’s leadership in this crisis kinda leave that part out…
